Okay, I've never written a blog before, so here it goes. Matthew encouraged me to write about grad school, so that'll be the focus of at least this first entry.
Grad school is good. I am currently a PhD student in Biology. I am attending a public university in Utah (I won't narrow it down any further...this is the internet you know!). Utah is a weird place to live if you're not from here, especially if you're not LDS...but, that's for a different blog perhaps. It's also a very beautiful place to live.
I've had a hard time focusing the last couple of semesters, most likely because I was also planning a wedding. I got married on November 1, and since then have had increasing focus and clarity with my work here at school, which is good. I'm working on getting my very first manuscript ready for publication, which is exciting, and frustrating all at the same time. It's difficult to cut a thesis down so that it is appealing to a journal. There are things that they won't be interested in that I think are important, plus, I spent a dang long time writing it!!
My PhD research has started moving along, which is also good. I'm now working on getting into a good schedule. I'm not a morning person, but I don't really like being here late into the evening. So, I'm trying to get into a schedule so that I can get home early enough to spend time with my family (ie husband, dog, cats, and lizard...no little humans at this point in time), and have time for myself. I haven't been taking very good care of myself, which can be a downside to school. I get so wrapped up in other things that I don't work out or eat as well as I should. So, I need to get on schedule to squeeze in my yoga during my busy day!
Anyway, I feel like I rambled a bit, but maybe blogs will get better. Then again, maybe not... =)
